What to do and see in and around Annecy

Annecy Castle
This medieval castle and former home of the Dukes of Geneva sits on a hill overlooking Annecy. Built between the 12th and 16th century, this attractive symbol of Annecy is now home to the Regional Observatory of Alpine Lakes.

Old Prison – Palais de l’lle
One of the most photographed buildings in France the Palais de I’lle juts out onto the river in the Old Town and dates back to the 12th century. Originally used as the home of the Lords of Annecy it then became a Prison. The Palais de I’lle now serves as a museum charting the history of Annecy.

Lake Annecy
Framed by mountains, the crystal clear water of Lake Annecy are a sight to behold. Take to the water on a boat trip or simply soak up the sun on the grassy banks of the second largest lake in France.

Pont des Amours
This is one for all you romantics out there, the Pont des Amours or Lovers Bridge, is an elegant iron structure dating back to the 20th century, the perfect location for a picture with your loved one.

Cathedral of St-Pierre
This gothic church dates back to the 16th century and was built by Jacques Rossel as a Franciscan convent. Visit this historic building for the lovely architecture and artwork inside.

The Notre-Dame-de-Liesse Church
This charming 19th century church maintains facets of the earlier sanctuary which stood before it, take note of the 16th century clock tower and 15th century gothic window.

Church of Saint-Maurice
The ostentatious gothic church was constructed in the 15th century as a Dominican church. The interior is flanked by medieval artisan chapels.

Imperial Palace
The 20th century Palace on the shores of Lake Annecy is well worth a visit to admire the beautiful gardens and casino.

Geneva
Geneva is the perfect destination for a day trip from Annecy. Wander around the cobbled streets of the Old Town, marvel at the fantastic fountain on the lake or visit the Palais des Nations.
